This is an overview of our July 2021 trip on Silver Moon. In order to not have you scroll down to see the latest posts, I will post them in reverse order, meaning that the last post goes on top…
Still trying to figure out if it is better to work with this type of « site page » or with regular blog posts. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK
July 19 – Day 2 – at sea – first impressions on Silversea and dinner at La Dame
The Silver Moon is a wonderful intimate ship with some great spaces: a quite large swimming pool, several restaurants, butler service in every suite, even in the « standard » suites. Actually there is nothing standard about the suite as it is a nice large (+- 30 m2) suite with a walk-in closet, bathroom including a bath and a shower. Your butler can draw you a bath with a choice of salts if you like that – the bath experience is very nice. We’d love that at home when we are stressed out which is not the case here on board.
Furthermore, you receive your choice of beverages for the minibar (champagne included), fruit – adapted by your butler to your preference; needless to say that our stress level is quite low.
First off for the evening, we went to the Captain’s reception. It was a formal night.
Dinner at La Dame is a truly memorable experience
The view, the food, the service are all outstanding and worth the nominal charge asked (60 $)
After that, off to La Dame for our dining experience. La Dame is well situated on deck 8 allowing for some very pretty views. The table settings are quite refined
Gilles started with the escargots while I had the foie gras. Both very good and accompanied by exactly the right wines.
The Lobster bisque (Gilles) and the Bouillabaisse served without roux in consideration of my intolerance for lactose were also both excellent.
For our main courses, Gilles had the Sole while I had the duck. Is it worth mentioning they were both excellent?

Conclusion?
Can we say anything else except that our first day was a very strong start on Silversea?
July 18 – Day 1 – Embarkation in Athens – Dinner at Atlantide
On July 18 we embarked on the Silver Moon in Athens for a 10 day trip. There is of course the new reality to traveling.
Leaving the Intercontinental Athenaeum at 12.45, we arrived at the cruise terminal about 30 minutes later. After waiting some time in the (nicely air conditioned) bus, we were allowed in the outside part of the terminal to cue for the antigen testing. When we were all clear (everyone had to already confirm they were vaccinated anyway…) we were allowed to board.
Boarding was nice, easy and quick. The ship is the wonderful new Silver Moon.
The cabin is wonderful and for our first night we went to the Atlantide restaurant. Of course, the Silver Moon is only at half capacity but the crew enthusiasm is infectious.
Enjoy some of the picture we made… of our first evening at Atlantide, the « common » restaurant. Nothing common about it as the service was top notch and the food really good.
