More than one year down the road after the pandemic started, and with vaccinations going faster and faster, are we ready to travel again?
We, Vaccinations & Travel
First of all, who are « we »? Clearly in this entire pandemic, there is no collective « we »… some want to resume traveling as soon as possible while others want to wait; some are willing to sacrifice some liberties (keep wearing masks, maintain social distancing) while others « will only travel if I can be totally carefree ».
Gilles and I are both fully vaccinated with Pfizer Biontech. This vaccination has now allowed us to power up the Covidsafe app that will facilitate travel in Europe. Will we stop wearing masks, washing hands and keeping social distancing? No! To us the main advantage to being vaccinated is that we will hopefully not get as sick and end up in the hospital if faced with an infection. So it is best to maintain the Covid-19 rules of social distancing, mask-wearing and hand hygiene to minimize all risks.
Silversea cruises
Our vaccine also allows us to travel to Greece on Saturday (17 July) and board the Silver Moon (Silversea cruises) for a cruise to Cyprus and Greece (Greek Islands). We will be tested before boarding and all crew is vaccinated.
With all the wonderful reviews we found and the very positive comments of our wonderful agents at Arrow Cruise Travel, we are wondering if it is not better to manage our expectations but we just cannot help ourselves
A vacation of first times: we’re never too old to enjoy new experiences
This will be our first time on Silversea and we are quite excited. Over the next days, we will keep you updated how our travel went… We will be updating this regularly over the next weeks with our experience on Aegean Airlines, the Intercontinental Athenaeum and of course our experience on Silversea….
First Feedback.
As a first feedback, the PLF (Passenger Locator Form) that you need to fill out for Greece is not always clear but most of all, it is quite stressful for someone who likes to be well prepared as you receive the QR code only on the date of your travel. What if anything happens (internet or your mail down for instance)? It would make more sense to receive your QR code as soon as it is available.
